I love a surprise! So for Brandon’s birthday I booked us a couple nights of escapissim in this incredible human-size beehive. I’ve never stayed anywhere like this before, the design was so quirky and it made for a brilliant get away to switch off and relax… especially the outdoor bath, but we will get to that later.
The beehive is split over three open levels. The middle one being the snuggly lounge area where you’ll find a day bed covered in fluffy blankets and cushions to cosy up in. There Is also an electric heater that looks like a real fire to help keep you toasty. The toilet is on this level too along with a chest full of board games and puzzles which you can play to help keep you entertained as there is no TV here. We did however watch a lot of Bates Motel on Netflix through the 4G on our phones; we’re a little addicted to that series!
I loved the design of the taps in this room, there is also a normal flushing toilet in here too and a cute mirror in the shape of honeycomb.
On the top level you will find this really impressive king size bed, it gives the impression that it’s floating and it’s just completely gorgeous, snuggly and covered in twinkly fairy lights. It was kitted out with a heated blanket too so we stayed nice and warm for our stay here in January.
At the bottom there is a kitchen complete with oven/hob, kettle, fridge-freezer and all the kitchen equipment you could need. There is underfloor heating too (although we didn’t feel that very much) You’re also provided with tea, coffee & sugar and we had an extra treat of a small bottle of wine and some chocolate truffles. Off the kitchen there is an impressive open shower room which has a large window that faces out to the cliff.
On to the best part in my eyes; the outdoor heated bath! Now, this was heavenly.
Now, isn’t this bath just magical?! It was -1 degrees when we took a bath and we stayed out here for hours drinking Disaronno and coke. We packed a Bluetooth speaker which was perfect so we could play some music and relax in a super hot bath beneath the trees. You keep the hot water running the entire time you’re in there and it flows down the steps like a waterfall. There is also a shared hot tub about a minutes walk from the beehive but we didn’t end up using that as we had this instead.
We really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend this place for a couples get away. The host is also very welcoming and friendly & I think what she’s designed and created here is completely magical and unique. The bee hive is going to appear on George Clarke’s amazing spaces on TV soon too!
There’s a tour of the beehive on my YouTube channel, so if you want to see more please click here.
What do you make of this place, would you stay here? Let me know in the comments.
